about

A bit about me

My career has taken me from smart metering and agency banking to leading engineering at ThankYu. I have worked across architecture, backend, web, mobile, and the less visible work of getting software safely into people's hands. I also contribute to open source developer tools, sharing work that others can use and build on.

My recent work includes AI agents and security: setting permissions, defining approval boundaries, and making actions auditable. I write about AI systems and the wider practice of engineering at Edgecase Engineering, and speak about what I learn from building and operating them.

experience

How I got here

My work began with energy systems, moved into payments, and expanded into developer infrastructure and engineering leadership.

01

Smart metering and the work around it

Full Stack Software Engineer

At Mojec, I worked on systems that supported smart meter procurement and field operations. I led work on meter order management, tracking procurement and status in software instead of leaving teams to piece it together manually.

I also worked on AMI and MDM integrations, internal tools, and the engineering practices around those systems.

02

The many sides of a payments platform

Software Developer / Frontend Software Engineer

At Remita, I worked across more than one corner of the payments platform. That included RemitaAgent for agency banking, merchant operations, tools for managing POS terminals, fraud detection, and reporting used by internal teams.

I also contributed to international money transfer workflows, exchange-rate configuration, dashboards, and the account administration around them. Working across these connected systems taught me how much a payment product depends on the people, controls, and information behind each transaction.

03

Making developer infrastructure usable

Product and platform engineering

Through SpecVista, I work on developer infrastructure for mobile teams, including the tooling around builds, releases, updates and integrations. The work reaches from the underlying systems to the public CLI, packages and documentation that let other engineers use them.

It brings product thinking, platform engineering and open source together, with a focus on making complicated release work easier for teams to manage.

04

Payments, products and the team behind them

Head of Engineering

At ThankYu, I lead engineering across payments, customer products, integrations and internal operations. I still work close to the code, while helping the team make better decisions about testing, releases and the systems we operate.

More recently, that has included controls for AI-assisted work around context, permissions, approval and audit.

Speaking & writing

At Edgecase Engineering, I write about architecture, AI systems, APIs, and what happens after software reaches production. My talks draw on the same engineering decisions and tradeoffs.

Topics I speak about

  • AI agent permissions, approval and audit
  • AI-assisted engineering with practical verification
  • Platform architecture and reliable delivery

Let's talk

If you're building a payment or product platform, shaping an engineering team, or planning a technical talk, I'd be glad to hear what you're working on.

A short note with the problem, context, and timing is plenty.
